Technology Accessibility Coordinator

The Technology Accessibility Coordinators role will be to support the ADA Compliance Officer in collaborating with campus entities, departments, and committees to ensure the accessibility of physical spaces, technology, systems, applications, websites, mobile apps, etc. A qualified candidate will demonstrate experience and leadership in the promotion and implementation of accessibility measures in information, communication, and instructional technology, as well as accessibility of physical spaces and accessible educational/instructional materials.


This role is expected to support proactive accessibility efforts by engaging the campus community in establishing accessibility policies and procedures to create a positive experience for diverse visitors, students, staff, and faculty. .


Roles and Responsibilities

*           Expertise in WCAG 2.0 standards and Section 508 accessibility requirements in conjunction with knowledge of the Americans with Disability Act Amendments (ADAA).

*           Experience with implementing accessibility standards in information, communication, and instructional technology.

*           Experience drafting accessible guidelines, procedures, and policies related to technology, physical space(s), and instruction.

*           Experience evaluating third party systems against accessibility standards.

*           Experience working with any of the following types of systems: learning management systems, student information systems, multimedia management systems, content management systems, databases.

*           Experience with implementing and using assistive technologies such as screen readers, speech-to-text, magnification, screen enhancement technology, mobility devices, etc.

*           Knowledge of accessibility architectural guidelines and standards, as well as best practice for inclusive and universal space design.

*           Knowledge of accessible technology solutions and structures within applications, systems, mobile apps, web systems, e-learning systems, electronic documents, forms, etc.

*           Effective stand-up and one-on-one training skills.

*           Excellent customer service skills.

*           Effective listening and negotiation skills.

*           Communicate clearly and exercise effective interpersonal, problem solving, team oriented, and decision-making skills where a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
