Product Owner

Responsible for the product strategy, feature creation/prioritization, and mentor support as needed. Works closely with the Director of Product Management, product stakeholders, and customers to manage and direct the product in all aspects of its lifecycle, while maintaining the product roadmap.

  • Provide end-to-end management of the product lifecycle from concept to next generations.
  • Develop and maintain user stories and acceptance criteria in a prioritized product backlog
  • Perform Grooming/Refinement sessions with development teams
  • Participate in mutually agreed upon scrum meetings with development team
  • Provide feedback regarding achievement of the sprint goal during the sprint review
  • Take action, as a team member, on items discussed in sprint retrospectives
  • Manage and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Be an expert in the product and keep up to date with technological advances
  • Maintain, develop and execute the product roadmap
  • Perform business analysis with subject matter experts, product leaders and customers
  • Identify new opportunities, product enhancements, and extensions
  • Coordinate with Technical Writing team for development of documentation and release notes to support the approval, design, development and expansion of the product
  • Work closely with other Product Owners to insure cross-functional product goals are met
  • Be responsible for use testing of the product in both new builds and ongoing troubleshooting as needed
  • Mentor/train support on new/advanced product features
  • Understand high-level product architecture and impacts as identified through company goals
  • Identify, specify and prioritize feature requests, functionality and capabilities
  • Provide guidance on product positioning and messaging through marketing and sales
  • Develop and implement product feature updates
  • Develop Sales and channel training materials including, high-impact Sales tools
  • Educate the Sales and Support about products and solutions
  • Monitor the marketplace, customers and competitors
  • Define and implement strategies to counter competitors
  • Conduct joint presentations with sales and relationship management for key customers
  • Evangelize the product internally and at events, seminars and customer briefings

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience working as a Product Owner for Agile Teams
  • Working knowledge of Scrum and Agile principles
  • Experience in education a plus
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment
  • CSPO certification desirable
  • Successful track record working with distributed and outsourced teams
  • Detail oriented and analytical
