JOB SUMMARY:The Database Administrator II is responsible for the integrity of data and database systems across the enterprise. This involves insuring the effective and efficient operation of all database systems in use including SQL Server and Oracle. In addition, the Database Administrator II will be responsible for applying security patches and database system upgrades as well as application patches and upgrades to the production database environment.
Assists with the development of database technology standards and product documentation.
Maximizes performance and availability of the production database environment through regular and timely monitoring and review. Recommend and implement improvements as needed.
Enhances security, and maintainability of the production database environment through comprehensive analysis of existing operational procedures and processes providing appropriate updates and enhancements as necessary.
Supports the migration path of SQL Server across the enterprise through the study, testing, planning, and implementation of new features, tools and components made available with each new release of SQL Server.
Performs Level 2 / Level 3 incident response, identify root cause, determine next steps, and drive incident resolution.
Provides support and guidance to our customers for the integration of third-party tools into the development, laboratory, and production environments ensuring these tools conform to standard security, disaster recovery, preventative maintenance, and reporting models.
Provides cross-functional assistance on an as needed basis to other operational areas.
Assists with the research of emerging technologies in support of the database strategy and development efforts.
Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field preferred or 3-5 years’ experience in information technology.
Experience with SQL Server high availability/DR solutions like clustering, database mirroring, AlwaysON Availability Groups, log shipping and replication, and partitioning.
Knowledge of query optimization techniques, i.e. tune indexes, triggers, stored procedure, views, partitions.
Understanding of database design, standards and management combined with excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills, applied with a solution-focused attitude.
Exposure to Operating System administration.
Familiar with ETL process development, Data Management policy development, support and QA activities.
Exposure to cloud technologies such as Azure and/or AWS.
